We have seen several "alligators" at Pueblo Escondido ranging in length from 4 feet to about 10 feet - we did not try to measure him, but he was on a 12 foot log, so we figured out how long he was. We often lose ducks and chickens to the alligators, and we keep a respectful distance from them when in their territory.

The approach to development at Pueblo Escondido encourages animal life to remain and to thrive. On any given day, a walk in the garden or the hiking trails will provide many wonderful surprises.
Some animals, like this fox above compete with us for the produce of the farm; and the larger animals prey on the smaller ones lower down on the food chain.
We have also seen crocodiles (we call them alligators in Belize) snakes, iguanas, lizards, tigercats, racoons, many species of birds and insects.
The thumbnails on this page take you to pictures of wild animals that we have been fortunate to see and photograph at Pueblo Escondido.

One morning, a tarantula and a hunter man wasp went to war near the hole in the ground in which the tarantula lived. The hunterman's favourite food is the tarantula and, that morning, he won the battle quickly.
